Clinical Services and Urgent Care

Clinical services are provided by our nurse practitioners. After-hours urgent care (with no co-pay) is available for insured employees, pre-65 retirees and dependents at UNC Urgent Care at the Family Medicine Center from 5 to 8pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays and based on appointment availability).

NPs are able to diagnose medical problems and provide prescriptions for medications. NPs can provide the following:

Treatment of minor illnesses

Infections
Colds, coughs, seasonal allergies
Joint pain
Rashes
Minor injuries not requiring urgent evaluation

Management of chronic health problems

High blood pressure
High cholesterol
Diabetes
Smoking cessation
Weight management

Wellness visits

Health Risk Assessment – including weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes screening
Review of your health assessment
Wellness counseling including healthy eating, exercise and weight loss coaching

Services not provided

Worker’s compensation and/or disability
Physicals
Drug screening

After-Hours Urgent Care at UNC Family Medicine

Insured employees, retirees, and dependents can receive after-hours care – with NO copay – from 5 to 9pm, Monday through Friday, at UNC Urgent Care at the Family Medicine Center.

When? From 5 to 9pm, Monday–Friday (excluding holidays and based on appointment availability)
Who? Open to insured employees, pre-65 retirees and dependents with after-hours healthcare needs
Where? UNC Urgent Care at The Family Medicine Center, 590 Manning Drive in Chapel Hill
How? When you check in, refer the front desk staff to the Town of Chapel Hill/Wellness@Work flyer posted on the check-in desk
